How Occupational Therapy Can Help
At Strive to Thrive Therapy, our occupational therapy sessions are play-based, child-led, and designed to be fun and meaningful.
We focus on helping your child better understand their body, feel confident in their abilities, and build everyday skills for increased independence and confidence.

We work with children and young adults who may be experiencing challenges with motor skills, sensory regulation, attention, coordination, and other related issues.
Occupational Therapy Evaluations
Before we begin therapy, we complete a comprehensive evaluation to learn more about your child and how we can best support them.

This includes:
-
A parent interview and history
-
Observations through play
-
Formal and informal assessments
-
A summary of findings and recommendations
From there, we create a therapy plan that’s aligned with your child’s goals and what matters most to your family.
Occupational Therapy Focus Areas
Occupational therapy supports development across a range of essential life skills. Depending on your child’s needs, we may target:
-
Fine motor skills like handwriting, cutting, and tool use
-
Self-care skills like dressing, tooth brushing, and utensil use
-
Core strength, posture, and coordination
-
Attention and engagement during play
-
Social skills like turn-taking, joint attention, and emotional regulation
-
Sequencing, memory, and organization
-
Sensory regulation and awareness
-
Coping with frustration, anxiety, and transitions
We work on building these skills in ways that feel natural, engaging, and achievable.
Our Approach to Occupational Therapy
We follow your child’s lead while incorporating purposeful activities that support their goals. Every session is designed to help them feel safe, successful, and empowered. During our sessions, you will find us engaging your child in:

-
Play that’s built around your child’s unique interests
-
Movement, messy play, and calming activities
-
Hands-on activities that target real-life skills

Therapy takes place in our sensory gym with equipment that builds strength and body awareness, guiding your child to successfully regulate their bodies, feel more confident in their environment, and take on daily challenges with greater ease.
